Description

ATA Spec 300 reviews the airline industry's approaches for the design, development and procurement of effective packaging of supplies shipped to a customer airline. These approaches also serve as guidelines for shipping containers for use in air transport. ATA Spec 300 provides packaging and testing guidelines for repairable and expendable units and components. Packaging standards for kits, the preparation of hazardous materials for shipment, and packaging and handling of electrostatic discharge-sensitive devices are among topics covered.

Notes

The 2014 revision includes:

  • Revised the application of standards for Category I & II shipping containers
  • Updated Electrostatic Discharge (protection) and corner and surface identification graphics
  • Added silk-screening as a method for marking containers
  • Added Category I container sample marking graphics
  • Corrected a previously omitted edge definition
  • Added pass/fail criterion regarding “cause for rejection”
  • Updated the drop and impact test information and added an ASTM specification reference.
