Description

This document specifies an industry standard for work package data exchange between computing systems. The intent of the specification is to reduce the total cost of planning and executing maintenance by airlines and their supporting maintenance organizations (internal and/or external). This cost reduction is achievable by reducing inefficiencies in the transfer of work package information between systems and/or organizations planning and performing maintenance, including reduction in manual data entry, reducing manual errors, and improving visibility between organizations.

This is a major revision (version 2.0 of the XML) which incorporates a complete transactional approach to managing work packages during their lifecycle.

Summary of key changes:

  • Addition of complete set of transactions (add Work Package, Add Work Order, Delete Work Order, Request Approvals, Provide Approvals, Add Deferrals, Substitute Work Orders, etc.)
  • Removal of Amends record and replacement with add and delete transactions.
  • Update of status values of both the Work Package and of Work Orders.
  • Addition of a complete set of sample transactions which depicts a sample complete Work Package and corresponding transactions.
  • Addition of complete Common Support Data Dictionary definitions.
  • Other minor corrections, reorganization, additional description, and flow charts to clarify for implementers.
